A Tiki classic, the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar lives inside the Fairmont hotel in San Francisco. It was designed by a Hollywood set designer in 1945 and has remained a staple ever since.
The bar is designed around a central lagoon (once the hotel swimming pool), and the band play from a floating boat on top of it. Adding to the tiki theme, tropical rain and thunder-and-lightning storms appear throughout the evening.
