Wusong Road

With an aesthetic inspired by Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are, Wusong Road is a thematic experience to match some of the best Tiki bars in existence. There’s a pan-Asian flavour to everything in here, from the Japanese Studio Ghibli on the screens, to the lucky cats and Chinese dragon mugs.

Created by Chef Jason Doo, there’s a significant nod to his Chinese ancestry and a top-class menu of Asian dishes, from the fried dumplings to summer rolls. The real inspiration, though, comes in the form of the Tiki Mugs. There are numerous unique creations here, all available to buy, branded with Wusong Road.

The drinks list is relatively short, with only a couple of staples among its homemade creations. The Vics Mai Tai is solid, while the Zombie (the bar’s signature drink) comes in a Chinese Zombie mug with a smoking cinnamon stick. These are limited to two per person on account of their strength, and you can taste why – one was more than enough.

While on our visit, it felt more restaurant than bar, it’s an impressive experience and one you don’t want to miss if you’re in the area. The only downsides are perhaps the music, which doesn’t feel very tiki, and the relatively bright lighting.
